Tarrlok locks Korra in a platinum box, publicly claiming that Equalists abducted her. In response, Lin Beifong breaks Korra's friends out of jail and, with Tenzin, infiltrate the Equalist hideout and discover that Tarrlok lied. Confronting Tarrlok in City Hall, a witness exposes Tarrlok's actions and bloodbending powers, which Tarrlock uses it to disable the group and escape. During this time, Korra learns from Aang's past that 42 years prior, a mobster named Yakone was brought to trial on charges of bloodbending, without needing a full moon; but escaped his trial by bloodbending the court into submission, whereupon Aang recaptured him and removed his bending. Upon his return to the cabin, Tarrlok confirms Korra's deduction that he is Yakone's son, attempting to rule Republic City from a political seat. Thereafter escape is thwarted by the Equalists, when his bloodbending proves ineffective against Amon. As Tarrlok is taken by Amon, Korra escapes and is brought to her friends by Naga.
